The Beautiful Feet People

Isaiah 52:1-11 (NIV):
“How beautiful on the mountains are the feet of those who bring good news.”

We hear plenty of bad news. Stories of conflict, suffering, division, and fear surround us, leaving many people discouraged and searching for hope. In Isaiah 52, however, a messenger arrives with good news: God reigns, His people are being restored, and salvation is being proclaimed.

Pastor Don Jeffers calls those who carry this message “beautiful feet people.” They are the people we are glad to see coming. They bring hope and encouragement, listen when someone needs to talk, pray for those who are struggling, and remind others that they are not alone.

One story Pastor Don shared involved an older man who was still working as a delivery driver at age 87 because he needed help paying for medicine and other expenses. A woman in his neighborhood noticed him, took time to learn his story, gave him money so he could take the rest of the day off, and began raising funds to help him retire.

“She cared, she shared, and she acted in love,” Pastor Don said. Those three actions offer a simple picture of what beautiful feet people do. They notice the needs around them and respond with the love God has given them.

Beautiful feet people also inspire others. Pastor Don remembered counseling people overcoming alcohol and drug addiction. When someone returned to share exactly how long they had remained sober, their progress became a source of joy and encouragement. Their lives showed that hope, help, and healing are possible.

Carrying good news does not mean we can solve every problem or force someone to believe. As Pastor Don explained, “I can’t save them. Only God can. But I can tell them about it.” Our responsibility is to care, speak, serve, and love, even when someone rejects what we offer.

Pastor Don also recalled washing the feet of a man who was ashamed of how they looked. Afterward, he reminded the man that God had not created him to be ugly or unworthy. There are people all around us who carry that same kind of shame. A compassionate word or act can remind them that they are loved by God and valued by others.

The sermon’s main point is clear: every Christian can become a beautiful feet person by carrying the good news of Jesus into someone else’s life. This week, check on someone who may feel forgotten. Listen without rushing, pray with them, share your time or resources when you can, and remind them that they are not alone. In Pastor Don’s words, we are called to “care, share, and do acts of love.”

Spiritual Unity

Philippians 2:1–13

Spiritual unity does not require everyone to agree on everything. It grows when believers follow Christ’s example by serving others, communicating with grace, welcoming people without judgment, and allowing the Holy Spirit to shape their attitudes and actions.
